50 overseas visitors refuse to pay hiked entry fee to enter a park on Koh Lipe

50 Malaysian tourists travelling from Langkawi refused to pay the 200 baht entry fee to a park they were visiting on Tarutao national parkKoh Lipe last Thursday. The Tarutao National Park charges Thai nationals only 20 baht to enter but a fee ten times higher, 200 baht, is levied at foreign tourists. The chief of the park Panapol Chiwaserichon said that he would be holding a meeting with regards to the incident with the tourist board and tour company operators to discuss ways to collect the entry fee from visitors on tours without having to get tough on tourists.
