65 Cambodians rescued after entering Thailand illegally

Military rangers and police have rescued 65 Cambodian nationals who fell victim to human-traffickers in Sa Kaeo province.

According to the report, they were found when the authorities raided a two-story commercial building located at a famous flea market called ‘Talat Rong Klua’.

The police and soldiers had to force open the door, which was secured with a chain, to get to the victims. They consist of 37 men, 23 women, 2 boys and 3 girls who had no travel documents and were all living in poor health conditions.

After speaking to them, the police revealed that they wanted to find jobs in Bangkok and managed to enter Thailand undetected in Aranyaprathet district with the help of a Cambodian middleman who charged between 2,000-2,500 baht per person.

All of them are expected to be deported once immigration officials in Sa Keo have finished recording their personal data.
