Around the world cyclist family to be compensated for his death in Thailand

According to Tourism and Sports Office director Pichet Dechakhamphu this week the wife and son of the late Chilean international cyclist Juan Francisco Guillermo will be handed Bt300,000 by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to assist them after his tragic death.

dead cyclist ThailandGuillermo, 48 was killed on Saturday in a road accident while completing the final leg of a five year round the world cycling trip, the accident occurred at tambon Bua Lai in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Bua Yai district, his wife Pei Ling, 29 from Singapore and his two year old son were also injured. Mother and son are receiving treatment at the Bua Yai hospital, Pei Ling suffered a broken leg in the accident.

It has been reported the Chilean cyclists funeral will be held at a temple in Khon Kaen in keeping with his last requet.

Guillermo set out in 2010 to cycle 250,000 kilometers in five years in order to break the world record, he was eight months away from achieving that goal when a truck swerved into his lane and struck him.
