According to Assistant Government Spokesperson Col Athisith Chaiyanuwat, the Cabinet has resolved to hold nationwide activities to allow Thai people to perform good deeds to express their loyalty and pay homage to the beloved King in the lead-up to his 89th birthday anniversary on December 5 this year.
The activities are categorized into three different types, the first of which is physical activities, such as cleaning public places, providing company for patients in hospitals, reading to children with disabilities and making merit.
The second category comprises verbal activities, which include making a vow to do good things for the nation, religion and monarchy as well as the singing of the royal anthem for the late King. Oath-taking ceremonies before the King’s royal portrait have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 22 at 8 am in Bangkok and other provinces and for Sunday, November 20 in foreign countries.
As for the final category, the Assistant Government Spokesman said it represents doing good with the heart, such as meditating, praying and practicing forgiveness.
