Chinese civil aviation officials will arrive in Thailand on May 16 to check the safety standards of four Thai chartered flight operators, starting with Nok Scoot.
The Chinese officials will also check the safety standards of Orient Thai, City Airways and R Airline to determine whether they are safe enough or require improvements before they are allowed to fly to China.
Mr Piya Yodmanee, CEO of Nok Scoot airline, said he was confident that the airline’s safety standards would pass the tests. He added that the Chinese government had changed its aviation policy by not promoting chartered flights but would prefer scheduled flights.
Regarding the forthcoming audit of the safety standards of Thai chartered filight operators by International Civil Aviation Organisation, the Thai Civil Aviation Department has notified 16 Thai chartered airlines for a discussion in June prior to the arrival of ICAO officials.
