Escape Yachts raise awareness and money for sharks by joining the Project AWARE Finathon

The clock is ticking for vanishing shark species. If you are FINatical about sharks then you might want to think about joining the Finathon and fundraising for their protection.

finathon 2Like a swimathon, fun run, cycle race or marathon the Finathon is a great way to bring the community together to raise awareness of a great cause, sharks.

July is Official Finathon Month.

The Escape Yachts is the official sponsor of The Escape Swim Team. The owners of the Escape Yachts are very passionate about the sea and its inhabitants. One of the owners, Andy, worked as a PADI dive instructor for many years on Koh Tao and has always been involved with the protection of the marine environment and felt the need to raise a bit of awareness for protection of sharks here on Koh Samui.

So they decided a few month ago to be a part of this new movement within the dive communities around the world to swim for the finathon 1sharks, There are different versions out there but they have decided, as PADI divers, to support Project AWARE and their FINATHON – swimming to end finning. With their own Koh Samui twist of course…

Their own version is to “swim around one island at a time” to raise money and awareness to Project Aware as they are fighting for the oceans and its inhabitants.

The Escape Swim Team has now swum around 6 islands so far and are looking forward to put more islands on their list.
