The family of the 21 year old British tourist who was left in desperate need of A negative blood after a road accident in the north of Thailand have thanked all of those who queued up to donate their blood. Lucy Hill was left in a critical condition fighting for her life when a car rammed into her moped in Chiang Mai, she was left with a broken pelvis and a brain hemorrhage. After surgery she suffered from anemia needing A negative blood which is very rare in Thailand, a situation that prompted her friends and family to launch a social media campaign to find A negative donors in Thailand.
Lucy’s aunt said that the family have been overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers who were queuing up outside the Rajavej Chiang Mai hospital from 6am on Monday morning. Lucy has now had another blood transfusion and is in a stable condition. The hospital are now waiting for some swelling to go down, it is likely she will need more operations to her eye socket and her pelvis, her mother has flown out to Thailand to be by her side.
