First Oil from Manora Project in Gulf of Thailand Planned for September

Australia’s Tap Oil Limited reported Monday that the Manora oil development in the northern Gulf of Thailand is on schedule for first production before the end of the third quarter as Phase 2 of the Offshore Installation Program is almost complete.

manoraField operator Mubadala Petroleum indicated July 7 that the loadout and installation of the platform topsides is effectively complete, with welding of the topsides to the jacket currently in progress. The platform topsides were loaded out from the Sattahip yard July 2 and transported to the Manora development location for installation. The platform topsides were then successfully installed and secured on the previously installed jacket July 7.

Final hook-up and commissioning work will proceed ahead of the arrival of the Atwood Orca (400′ ILC) jackup in mid-August to drill 10 production and 5 injection wells. The floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility will arrive on location in late July, with the vessel to be connected to the previously installed CALM Buoy and subsea flow lines.

When offshore hook-up and commissioning, FSO installation and drilling of the first 2 production wells are completed, first oil is expected to commence in late September.

“The loadout, transportation and installation of the topsides was completed safely and within budget,” Tap Oil said in a press release.
