Frenchys restaurant in Bangrak is a romantic French bistro that offers a romantic take on traditional French cuisine.
Frenchys is owned and run by Executive chef Patrick Wursching, who discovered his passion for the culinary arts as a young boy when he helped his mother prepare the family meals. Her enthusiasm and love of good food not only inspired Patrick, but his two brothers too, with one studying to be a pastry chef and a sommelier it seemed only natural that Patrick would follow in their footsteps.
Patrick’s affair with food started in the kitchen in a hotel in Troyes, Champagne in France where he learned the art of French cuisine. After graduating from culinary school he honed his skills some impressive locations such as a casino in Bern, Switzerland operated by George V and at the Castel Hyde Hotel in Ireland owned by Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley, he later found himself in Bermuda, New York, the UK and now, luckily for the visitors and residents of Koh Samui he is in Bangrak.
Frenchys opened its doors three years ago. The restaurant is a romantic boudoir that has been tastefully decorated and has an intriguing selection of artifacts from around the globe that all add a certain Je ne sait quoi to the relaxing atmosphere along with mood lighting and the elegant sounds of slow jazz.
The menu that is bursting with fresh ingredients and flavors, can be found on blackboards around the restaurant, so your journey into French cuisine will start with a voyage of discovery as you make your way around the room. The dishes to be found here offer something for every taste and budget with prices that reflect the quality of the food. Everything is homemade from breads, to pates to delicious condiments that compliment the beautifully put together dishes.
The day at Frenchys starts at 9am with Irish, Thai or French breakfast. Dishes on the starter menu include mixed fried wontons, soup of the day and the lite bite option include chicken satay, homemade garlic bread, pannini with ham, salad and cheese, or a pizza of your choice. You will find a very nice smoked salmon salad, chef salad and a salad nicoise and for those who love fine food the escargots beurred’ail, cheese platter and homemade pate will not disappoint. If you want something simple then try the burger and fries.
The a la carte menu includes dishes such as Chicken Piccatta, Rib eye with pepper sauce, tomate crevettes, shrimps in garlic butter, market fish, lamb shank, roast half duck with mango, chicken curry, pork chop with mustard and pizza andouillette.
For those with a sweet tooth the red berries crumble, crepes suzette, chocolate mousse, apple tatin and lemon pie will blow you away.
The presentation of the dishes at Frenchys would not look out of place in a five star restaurant and without a doubt it tastes as good as it looks. There are some well chosen wines available to compliment your meal as well as a fully stocked bar.
A meal at Frenchys is something to take your time over and savor the tastes and flavors created by a chef who certainly knows how to impress and without a doubt includes his flair and passion in every dish he presents.
