The friends of a British girl who plunged to her death in a hotel in Hat Yai have demanded a police probe into her death. Maxine Missick checked into a hotel on the 31st on August 21st. on Friday, three days before she was due to fly home, her body was found by a passing motorcyclist who says he heard the girl hit the floor. She was later pronounced dead after suffering suspected back and neck injuries in the fall.
The local police immediately ruled out any foul play stating that her room showed no sign of robbery and suggested she had died from an accidental fall or suicide, however her friends believe there is no way she would have committed suicide.
Maxine has been described as a lovely and cheerful girl who always made others smile.
Orgininally from the British overseas territory of Turks and Caicos, the British student was on holiday in Hat Yai. She was staying at the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel. Her body was found at 5.30am in an alley behind the hotel. Pol Col Gen Sornpet Tantiamonchaikul said his officers were still waiting for the results of a post mortem examination and will not rule on her official cause of death until it is received.
