Fund set up for the family of the backpacker who died in Koh Tao

The father of Christina Marian Annesley, who was found dead in Koh Tao last week, has said that his daughter was being tipped as the next prime minster before her life was cut short during a backpacking trip to Thailand.

It is believed that Christina died from a respiratory infection. Her father Boyne said that he heard from his daughter only 36 hours before she was found dead by accommodation staff who said she was found lying in her hut bleeding from the nose and the mouth. She had previously complained on her social media sites about having a chest infection.

The body of Christina is still in Bangkok, her father said that he had found it extremely difficult to co-ordinate with the Thai officials in order to have his daughter’s body returned to the UK. “we are getting quite angry”, he said, “Christina has been going a week and her body is deteriorating, we want to be with people when they die”.

Christina was born in New Zealand and spend her early years in Wainuiomata. Her parents took her to the UK as a child, but many of her family, including her brother, still live in New Zealand. Friends of the family have set up a Give a Little page in order to help Christina’s brother and neice travel to the UK and to assist with the cost of flying her body back to the UK.
