Mothers Day was first introduced in Thailand on the 15th of April 1950. The date was changed in 1976 to the 12th of August to commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Mother of all Thai people.
Every year during the month of August Thai households and public places are decorated with flowers and lights and portraits of the most beloved Queen Sirikit to celebrate the day of her birth. For almost sixty years the Queen has stood by the King’s side and the Thai nation and dedicated her time and efforts for the common good. On this, of all days, the Thai people give thanks and express their endless devotion to the Queen as they celebrate their love for her on mother’s day.
