Despite the bad weather Thais have been told all they need to do is smile and everything will be alright.
The tourists who cancelled their trips will come flooding back and everything will have a happy ending.
The project aims to mobilize the TAT with the government and private sector to help with the recovery from the bad weather that Samui and the south has experienced.
So yesterday TAT chiefs and officials from SME Bank got the ball rolling in Thai style with a beach clean up in Chaweng.
Interest free loans and a disaster fund were also announced for operators.
Thai New Agency said that visitors to Samui were down 15% and there were usually 3 million arrivals there annually. The high season has been hit with flight, hotel and restaurant cancellations.
But TNA said that “quality tourists” from Germany, Israel, the UK and Russia were now returning and added:
“Despite the destructive forces of mother nature if the Thai people smile then everything can return to normal”.
