ISOC focuses road safety on motorcyclists

The Internal Security Operations Command is putting a focus on road safety for motorcyclists.

ISOC spokesman Col. Pirawat Saengthong said today that drunk driving remained the number one cause of road accidents in Thailand during Songkran between April 11 and 14.

Unruly behavior by motorcyclists and extreme activities in the back of pickup trucks have also been noted as major causes of accidents recently.

Therefore, Col. Pirawat has urged Songkran travelers to abide by traffic laws and refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages and speeding, while making their way home or back to work.

He added that ISCO has been paying particular attention to incidents in communities nationwide and setting up checkpoints for motorcycle riders, to stop drunk driving, which so often causes road accidents.
