ISS rated as “Outstanding’ International School

Koh Samui, Thailand…June 2, 2016–The International School of Samui (ISS) is known for its high level of student achievement and the high standard of facilities on offer to its students.  This reputation was reinforced by an ‘Outstanding’ rating awarded from OPEC, the Office of the Private Education Commission of Thailand, during a recent inspection of the school.

ISSOPEC, the governing body for all international schools in Thailand, recently visited ISS to assess the school’s educational programs and upon review of all factors, awarded the highest rating it can award to a school, that of ‘Outstanding’ standard.

Upon learning of OPEC’s rating awarded to ISS, the founder and chairman Mr. Jeremy Lees stated, “We are very proud of how very strong we are becoming within the International Schools circuit. Our dedicated teachers and staff work diligently in encouraging all students to strive towards reaching their goals and do their respective best in all their work and studies. These efforts by teachers and students resulted in an exceptionally strong showing and high rating from OPEC.”

ISS Headmistress, Mrs Lisa Taylor Hawkins added, “Our students’ excellent progress is founded upon an enjoyment of learning and knowledge.  This is a result of an expertly planned, innovative curriculum based on first-hand experiences and a rich programme of trips and out-of-school activities, taking full advantage of our unique location and first-rate facilities on the island of Koh Samui.”

The International School of Samui offers education from 2 years to 18 years in 3 distinct schools (Kindergarten, Primary & Senior). The school was founded in 2007 and is a licensed British Curriculum school, a certified Cambridge and Edexcel examinations centre, is fully accredited by the Education Development Trust and a member of COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and FOBISIA (Federation of International Schools in Asia).

ISS remains a non-selective school but is nevertheless very proud to boast very strong academic and sporting results from pupils who have honed a love of learning and a will to achieve.  Students who leave ISS have not only succeeded in entering top universities in a range of subjects but also accessed many top secondary and boarding schools in different parts of the world.  IGCSE and A-Level results are consistently high allowing students to move into their chosen subject or career paths. Pupils studying at ISS come from 30 or more countries but soon adapt to their new surroundings with a 100% focus on studying in English.
