This week at the International School of Samui (ISS), the highly respected school now in its 11th year, was delighted to welcome Mr. Mike Hewlett to ISS February 23 & 24 for the school’s annual British international school accreditation status.
Mr. Hewlett, a Chief Inspector from Education Development Trust (EDT) from England, is with the global organisation that works directly with governments and schools with the aim of improving education around the world.
It was a productive and informational 2-day meeting for both parties, who are working toward the same goal — and that is to ensure that students of ISS are receiving the best education possible to prepare them for their future.
In line with the excellent Primary and Senior academic program, ISS students are enjoying a big leap forward in organised sports.
ISS sports is on the rise with the new sports hall an exciting development for students as well as the island. The spacious hall offers year-round use for ISS students and a welcome resource for community sports programs. The hall caters for numerous activities including badminton, netball, basketball, 5 a-side football and volleyball. Furthermore, gymnastics classes, martial arts and dance programs are offered on a daily basis by professional coaches.
Gaining strength on the football pitch paid off for ISS students when playing Oonrak International School February 24th. Of the three primary and senior football matches, the two boys’ teams and one girls’ team racked up 2 out 3 winning games.
Fundraising ticket sales start February 27th by the ISS Senior Girls team to support their trip and participation at the SEA International Netball Competition in Singapore. Many terrific high end prizes will be awarded at the drawing March 6th at ISS with the top prize valued at THB 24,000
