Lovin’ Lamai – The Codwhopaa Cafe

Over the next few weeks the Samui Times team will be exploring Lamai to find its hidden treasures to share with our community.

This week on our travels we discovered the Codwhopaa serving up some seriously delicious and incredibly reasonably priced Sunday Lunch.

SAM_2603The team were attracted to this particular bar thanks to the large blackboards outside advertising a Full English Breakfast at a bargain price, but we soon decided to swap that idea when the aroma of roast dinner hit our noses.

After being seated by a very friendly Thai lady we quickly decided on Chicken and Lamb roast dinners, both pork and beef were both available. All roast dinners are impressively served with roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, crunchy broccoli, sage and onion stuffing and cauliflower cheese.

After ordering some drinks and enjoying the cool fans that were considerately repositioned when we sat down to blow in our direction, we studied the menu that is bursting with very attractively priced western dishes. We also noted that the condiment tray was full of Sarsons and Heinz vinegars and HP sauces, no expense spared there.

CodwhopaaThe Horseradish and mint sauce then arrived at the table, quickly followed by a huge jug of delicious Bisto gravy infused with meat juices, some garlic and herbs. The roast dinners then arrived with an unexpectedly large amount of meat. The lamb was beautifully cooked, tender and really tasty, the chicken was moist, bursting with flavor and some of the best we have tasted on the island.

The vegetables tasted so fresh they could have been picked just prior to being cooked, a really impressive meal at an incredible price.

We highly recommend the Codwhopaa for really high quality food at very reasonable prices.
