Foundation workers in Nakorn Sri Thammarat saved a policeman from certain death after his pick-up got submerged in flood waters in a creek.
Rescuers from the Pracha Ruam Jai foundation rushed to the Huay Peuk creek in Phromsiri district last night after a radio message was received. A D-Max Isuzu had been washed away into the creek some 400 meters and there was a man unconscious and trapped inside, reports Daily News.
They decided to smash the window with a hammer and haul out Kla Punpong, 50, who is attached to the Phromsiri station police.
His pulse had stopped and he was given CPR for a full ten minutes before his heart started beating again. He was taken to hospital and is now recovering.
Daily News said it was a miracle that he had been saved.
The pick up was later retrieved from the creek at around 3.30am.
Police said that their colleague had tried to outrun flood waters in heavy rain and got into trouble. His pick-up was literally washed away in the torrent.
