On Friday, HM King Maha Variralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun will leave the Amporn throne hall in the Dusit Palace to the Grand Palace to pay respect to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krea-ngam, meanwhile, warned the media to accurately use the new name of the King. He called on members of the public to continue their life as usual, saying that everything remains unchanged – that is the people continue to wear black to mourn the passing of the late King and the portraits of the late King Bhumibol should stay where they are in private homes and public places.

Dr Wisanu said that the new King had wanted everything to remain as usual as they are.

Asked whether the people should now hang the portraits of the new King at home or in offices, the deputy prime minister said that even choosing the portraits to be used is a burden and he advised the people to just spend their life as usual.

He went on saying that with the new King being installed, General Prem’s role as the Regent has automatically ended.
