Four of the accidents occurred in Mueang District with six more recorded in Thalang.
The main reason given as the cause of the accidents was drunk driving.
On Day 2 of last year’s Songkran Seven Days campaign, 12 people were injured in 12 accidents across the island.
The official accident and injury toll for this year’s campaign currently stands at 18 people injured in 15 accidents, but no deaths.
The DDPM also reported that police on Day 2 alone fined 1,103 people for not wearing helmets while riding a motorbike. A further 34 people have been charged with drunk driving and 436 for driving without a license.
Twenty-one people faces fines for using a phone while driving, another 12 for running red lights and 70 more for not wearing seat belts.
Five people have been charged with reckless driving (all motorbikes), and eight for illegally riding/driving against traffic flow, the DDPM reported.
Three people have been charged for illegal overtaking, the report added.
So far no people have been charged for speeding.
The most active checkpoint is in front of Suan Luang park, noted the report, with 125 people fined for not wearing helmets while riding a motorbike and five people charged for drunk driving there alone.
