The Premier Sports Bar is located in Bangrak between the Big Buddha Pier and the Seatran Ferry Pier opposite the Mermaid hotel.
Owned by John and Tina and managed by Ian the bar has seen a lot of changes since its opening, five years ago on Friday. John has made continual improvements to the bar and today it has super fast free Wifi, a good quality pool table that is free to use, a darts board, 7 different satellite receivers and 2 giant 3 meter projection screens. This allows the bar to air seven different events at one time. The bar has ample indoor and outdoor seating and a large bar seating area where friends and ex-pats gather to enjoy their favorite sports and catch up on island banter.
The prices in The Premier Sports Bar are surprisingly reasonable and actually lower than some of the surrounding bars that are not so well equipped. The bar serves all of the beers, ciders, spirits, cocktails, shooters, wines and soft drinks you would expect to find in a bar of this size as well as Fireball shots, a fantastic cinnamon whiskey from Canada, and twister shots, a unique and funky way to mix shots up!
The fully equipped European standard kitchen runs under the watchful eye of John’s latest imported improvement, namely Stevie. Stevie is turning out some of the best Sunday Roast Dinners on the island, homemade pies, fish and chips, Cornish pasties, Aussie Rib Eye steak, Scotch eggs and seriously delicious sticky pork ribs! If you fancy a Sunday roast booking is advised. And this year for the first time The Premier Sports Bar is proud to announce they will be putting on a Christmas Dinner!
The bar has more fans than Barcelona so it is always cool and relaxing. The bar is child friendly and has generator back up so you will not miss out on cold drinks, food, entertainment and sports during the islands irritating power cuts!
The staff at The Premier Sports Bar are very friendly and have big welcoming smiles, customers come back year after year to enjoy the warm hospitality and the girls are so helpful the bar has become something of a tourist information office. It is worth noting that the bar has cars and bikes for hire and is the only place on the island that will exchange Scottish currency.
The bar competes in both the Tropical Murphys Monday Night Pool Team and the Wednesday Night League of Gentlemen games and on Thursdays play host to a fun Pub Quiz that is free to enter and there is food provided. After the quiz you are invited to ‘Play your cards right’ and then enjoy a spot of Rock n Roll Bingo! This fun packed night is always well attended so if you are new to the island and want to meet some island residents it is the place to be.
The Samui Times popped along to see owner John to find out what will be on the buffet at the anniversary party on Friday and why he thinks they have the number two spot on best attractions in Samui on Tripadvisor.
So John, what’s cooking for the party?
Well, Steve is going to be cooking up Jerk Chicken and Jerk Ribs as well as rice and peas, Chili con Carne and homemade coleslaw!
Sounds delicious, so what is the recipe of your success?
I think it’s down to us being such a friendly bar. Ian, my manger, always says that people walk in as customers and walk out as friends. And we are constantly making improvements and updating our facilities to meet our customer’s needs.
