Reckless drivers warned they may have their cars impounded during Songkran

Reckless drivers will have their driving licenses seized and their cars impounded as part of the road safety campaign during the Songkran festival.

songkranMotorists driving cars which are deemed as unsafe may also have their vehicles impounded too.

Publicity of road safety campaign will be launched during the run-up to Songkran festival at the order of Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan in charge of security affairs.

The deputy prime minister chaired a meeting on Thursday with agencies concerned to discuss road safety measures and publicity campaign to urge drivers to be aware of safety.

All provincial governors down to kamnans and village heads have been ordered to conduct publicity campaign in their respective provinces and villages to inform of the need to drive safely in order to reduce road accidents.

However, General Prawit said that the road safety measures were not only intended for Songkran festival but for throughout the year.
