In 1977 the Pupaiboon family decided to develop their hotel business and what was then known as Peace Bungalows were built on the outskirts of Bophut. Today, known as The Peace Resort, after its renovation in 2007, this wonderful hotel with its contemporary Thai architecture that reflects local traditions and craftsmanship continues to thrive.
The Peace Resort occupies a fabulous beachfront location that along with the unparalleled staff service has been delighting guests, new and returning for over thirty years. Not only does the resort offer resident guests some ideally located accommodation it offers residents and non-resident guests the opportunity to enjoy culinary delights in the Sea Wrap restaurant.
Owned and managed by the Pupaiboon family the level of service here is nothing in not consistent and many of the staff joined when the resort was first established and there are few that have not been part of the team for many years. One newcomer however is the Chef Azizkandar who has updated the menu and the kitchen and is now delighting diners with international cuisine with a focus on French and Italian flavors combined with Thai favorites.
The Sea Wrap restaurant is right on the ocean front and has spectacular views of Koh Phanang. The décor in the restaurant is stylish, tables on the beach allow for romantic beach dining (limited numbers), and the bar and beach bean bag areas are ideal for pre and post dinner drinks.
Wednesday and Sunday nights are very special at the Peace Resort. On Wednesday you can enjoy a sumptuous buffet with a free cabaret show. Here, as well as the live performance, you can enjoy generous servings of meats, seafood, appetizers, salads and desserts. On Sundays you can enjoy a Thai style buffet and Traditional Thai dancers and classical Thai music.
Tuesday night is pasta night when you can indulge in Italian dishes, on Thursday the restaurant hosts a Spanish Tapas Night and Saturdays are dedicated to Seafood.
Each day off the week has specialty cocktails, on Monday its Kamikaze, Tuesday, Peachy Gin Fizz, Wednesday Half Moon, Thursday Caipiroska, Friday Melon Mohito, Saturday Daiquiri Mango and Sundays Tropical Sangria.
The restaurant staff are experts in their field and are well versed in tending your needs and can converse in several languages, nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Peace Resort who make you feel so very welcome. The restaurant welcomes children and several high chairs are available it is also none smoking, but there is an area around the swimming pool if you want to enjoy a cigarette.
The menu is bursting with flavors, textures and clever combinations. On the starter menu you will find well thought out salads such as the Mesclun Salad that contains mixed greens, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, green apple, cherry tomatoes and balsamic dressing as well as Greek Salad, Salad Nicoise, Smoked Salmon Salad, Beef Carpaccio, Tuna Sashimu, Salmon Tartare, Prawn Ravioli, Tuna Tataki and Mussels au Gratin. There are some hearty soups as well on the menu that include Wild Mushroom Cappuccino and Roasted Pumpkin Soup.
There are plenty of pasta and pizza dishes on the menu including the GM’s favorite pizza of Garlic and Prawns, this dish is indescribably delicious and will require no additional seasoning as it is cooked to perfection with peppercorn sauce.
There is plenty to keep meat lovers entertained with Steak Béarnaise, Steak au Poivre, Australian Lamb Cutlet that is as tender as can be, Chicken Schnitzel, the most incredible Five Spice Duck Breast braised with red cabbage, parsley potato, Casis sauce and Sichuan pepper. The pork loin is also do die for backed in the oven with Granny Smith Apples, cider reduction, tarragon and spring onion potato.
The starter menu has a fantastic range of European, Thai and fusion dishes and the dessert menu is packed with wickedness such as the Belgian Callebaut dark chocolate mousse served with coffee ice cream and salted peanuts caramel and the Coconut and vanilla pod panna cotta with passion fruit coulis and mango ice cream. If you can’t face that kind of decadence then you can opt for freshly cuts of fresh fruit in season.
The drinks menu has something for everybody and there is a well chosen wine list to choose from.
The Pease resort retains its old school charm but has all of the modern conveniences you would expect to find in a hotel of this standard. Non residents are welcome to enjoy the restaurant for breakfast , lunch or dinner and its location and live entertainment make it an excellent place to take visiting friends and family to enjoy Thai dancing, caberet and the tastes of Thailand in a stylish and un-hurried environment.
