“She’s lying!” – Hostel owner casts doubt on Brit teen’s claim of drug/rape on Koh Tao

The owner of the hostel where a 19 year old British teenager was staying on Koh Tao has said that she does not believe the woman was drugged and raped.

Britain’s Daily Mail had printed a story of how 19 year old Isabel Victoria Bakter was assaulted on the notorious island back in June.

She was allegedly drugged and raped near the area of the double murder of two compatriots several years ago.

Thai Rath interviewed the owner of the hostel on video as police surveyed the scene on Koh Tao.

The unnamed woman said that the alleged victim was staying in a room with four men from June 21st to 26th. They all went out together as normal on June 25th.

Next day she claimed she was raped.

The hostel owner said she would assist her and take her to hospital and the police.

She declined saying that she needed to get to Koh Pangan quickly to meet her boyfriend and friends for the Full Moon Party.

She said that she was convinced that the woman was lying. She was fully prepared to help her and said had she reported it straight away the person who did it would have been caught.

She said there was nothing untoward in the CCTV at the bar being unavailable now. It would have been available back then if the alleged victim had taken up her offer of help.

The police would have acted, she said.

“I tried to help her,” she said. “She decided not to report it and do nothing. There was nothing I could do further. Instead she went to Koh Pangan leading me to believe it never actually happened”.
