Swedish man wanted on murder charges in Thailand 18 months for the crime in Sweden

In Pattaya August 2012 Swedish Andreas Ringvall, now 42 and Robert Hollick, 43, were in a bar in Pattaya having an argument about a dog. Ringvall left the bar, went home, grabbed a knife and returned to the bar where he attacked Mr. Hollick who later died from stab wounds.

Ringvall was arrested and detained on suspicion of murder and then released on bail. Strangely the man had his passport returned to him and promptly fled Thailand.

After two years on the run Ringvall was finally arrested in August last year and has now been convicted by a Nacka District Court, however the conviction was not for the murder, rather than aggravated assault and manslaughter for which he was given a eighteen month sentence and an order to pay compensation to the relatives of the diseased victim.

The court said that the Royal Thai police investigation was incomplete and there was no crime scene investigation or evidence of the murder weapon that disappeared during the renovation of the building where it was stored. Due to the flaws it was felt there was insufficient evidence to uphold a murder conviction.
