Thai government condemns terror attack in Egypt

No Thai people were hurt in a terror attack in Egypt on Friday (Nov 24) in which at least 235 people were killed and 109 others injured, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Busadee Santipitaks said.

Ms Busadee said the Thai government has issued a statement to condemn the attack in which gunmen fired on people fleeing after explosions occurred at the Al-Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed province in northern Sinai, killing at least 235 people and injuring 109 others.

The spokeswoman said Thailand condemns all forms of terrorist attacks and violence incidents.

The Thai government today (Nov 25) issued a statement on the Egyptian Mosque attack.

“The Royal Thai Government joins international community in condemning the attack as well as act of terrorism and violence in all forms. The Royal Thai Government also wishes to extend its deepest condolences and sympathy to the Government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt and to the bereaved families and those who were affected,” the statement reads.

Ms Busadee said initial checks revealed that no Thai people were hurt in the incident.

There are now about 3,700 Thai people staying in Egypt, of whom about 3,500 are students.
