“Weeboon, the promising crowdfunding platform dedicated to Thailand that connects those in need with charitable people”

Weeboon first came under the spotlight in the beginning of March, two months after its official launch, when the platform managed to raise a consequent amount of funds for two kids hit by a bus in Pattaya.

The campaign named “Fundraising to save Daniel & Katia” which was created on www.weeboon.com by Masha Zhigunova, Regional Division Manager at Vejthani Hospital, aimed to cover the hospital fees for Daniel 16 and Katia 14, brother and sister, who needed multiples surgeries on their brain and spine at that time.

In only a few days, over a hundred donors from Thailand but also abroad, relatives and complete strangers, Thai and Westerners, donated in an unprecedented demonstration of solidarity and generosity. Never in Thailand’s history funds for a cause were raised so fast by total strangers.

The funds collected helped to cover the operations and rehabilitation costs as the parents, already deeply affected by the situation, couldn’t afford such fees.

Others campaigns

Since then, several campaigns, ran by both NGOs and individuals, were created in order to raise funds to support different causes.

One of them is currently raising funds to finance its pilot project called M-Fund that will create the first low-cost healthcare system for migrants in Thailand through a partnership with hospitals.

The non-governmental organization “Lanta Animal Welfare”, based in Koh Lanta, has already launched its second campaign on the platform as the first one already reached its goal in a few weeks.

Apart from helping non-profit to reach a new audience, Weeboon is also mean to be a tool that allow anyone to raise funds online for a personal cause.
