240kg of marijuana heading to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan confiscated

In Bueng Kan province yesterday police confiscated 240kg of marijuana, it is suspected that the drugs were heading for Phuket and Koh Samui after the recent curfews were lifted. Local police seized the drugs near the Mekong River and reports indicate that orders from the southern province have been on the increase.
If, as suspected, the drugs had made their way to the islands of Samui and Phangan they would have fetched at least seven million baht in street value.
Local officials suspected that the drugs were smuggled from the border of Laos and Thailand. At 4AM on June 6, police scouts were sent to patrol the border after receiving tip-offs. Working in close cooperation with park rangers and related officials, the police were able to seize the mentioned 240 kg of the drug.
