79 year old French man drowns in Koh Samui

On Sunday night a 79 year old French man drowned in knee deep water in Chaweng. His body was recovered from the water by a waiter from a nearby resort and taken to the Thai International Hospital. The waiter told the police that the French man had been a regular customer at the resort and had arrived on September the 22nd, he was due to check out on October 6th. The Burmese waiter went on to say that he had seen the man drinking beer in the restaurant before wandering down the beach to take a swim. Around 20 minute after the man entered the water the waiter could no longer see him and ran down to the beach where he found him face down in the water.
Police have said that asthma medication was found in the man’s room leading them to believe he died of a possible asthma attack in the water.
