80,000 meths seized after a clash in Chiang Rai

Acting on a tipoff that a caravan of drug smugglers would use the mountain route along the border at Ban Santisook in Tambon Patung of Mae Chan to smuggle in a huge cache of drugs, the commander of the Pamuang Field Force the ordered troops to patrol the possible routes to intercept the drug smugglers.
A group of 5-7 smugglers were spotted on the mountain route carrying backpacks and firearms.
The men were ordered to stop but they ran and started to open fire at the authorities.
In a gunfire which lasted in 10 minutes, all smugglers escaped under cover of darkness.
A search at the clash scene produced a backpack dropped by the smugglers.
The backpack was open and 80,000 meths were inside.
