902,000 methamphetamine pills seized in a drugs bust

On Saturday three Lahu tribesmen were arrested with 902,000 methamphetamine pills in a big drugs bust in Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand. The pills have a street value of more than 500 million baht. The police received a tip off that a large amount of drugs were going to be smuggled into Thailand from Myanmar via Chiang Rai. Pol Col Pongsak Limchalermchat, the deputy commander of Boarder Control Region 3 ordered his officers to keep a close watch on the roads coming into Thailand, the vigil started on Friday night.
On Saturday morning the police observed two pick-up trucks running from the border on the Nong Mor-Rongkhun road in tambon Mae Kon of Muang district. The officers signaled for the drivers to pull over and then searched them.
Suchart Chodaku, 28, Arbue Seduku, 38 and Piratchai Wuisueu 38 were arrested. The suspects told the police they had been paid to transport the drugs from Myanmar. They went on to say that other members of the drug trafficking gang were supposed to transport the haul to Bangkok and nearby Nonthaburi province
