Acute water shortage in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s municipal area

Acute water shortage in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s municipal area has severely affected the Maharaj hospital to the extent that the hospital has appealed for help from the provincial authorities to ensure smooth operations.
In respond to the appeal, several fire trucks of the municipality have been used to bring water several times a day to fill up the hospital’s water tanks.
The hospital director, Dr Songkiat Lektrakul, offered his appreciation to the organizations which sent water trucks to supply water to the hospital which include the Fourth Army Region, the provincial administrative organization and the municipality.
As for the general public, many households have helped themselves by buying water to fill their own water tanks.
The municipality has claimed that there is enough water resource to meet demand and blamed water mains leakage for water shortage. But several residents said that they had heard the same excuse for the past five years.
