Alcohol to be banned during Loy Kratong

Authorities have decided to impose a ban on alcohol sales in areas where the Loy Krathong Festival is being celebrated. The move has come they say to protect “public safety. According to a report in the Bangkok Post volunteers will patrol the festival areas to ensure nobody is sneaking in alcohol. The decision was made by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department who strive to control other items they deem dangerous such as balloons and floating lanterns.
