Algerian arrested for stealing from Korean tourist in Pattaya

An Algerian man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a bag with about Bt38,900 worth of cash and other valuables from a South Korean tourist in Pattaya.
Pattaya police chief Pol Colonel Apichai Krobphet said Mouloud Sadat, 53, was arrested at 8.30pm at the front of Soi Na Klua 33 on Pattaya-Na Klua road on Friday.
His arrest came after Seung Chul Lee, 45, from South Korea, filed a complaint with the police station at 7.30pm on April 17 that his Prada bag was stolen while he was dining at a restaurant in front of Soi Na Klua 27.
Seung told police that his bag was worth Bt60,000 and it had a pair of eyeglasses worth Bt10,000 and a power bank worth Bt2,000, as well as Bt20,000 in cash and 650,000 Korean won, or about Bt18,900.
Police identified Sadat after viewing security-camera footage. After Sadat was arrested, police found the bag, the glasses and power bank at his rented room, but the cash had been all spent.
