Another bag snatcher apprehended in Koh Samui

On the evening of June 29th a 58 year old woman had her bag snatched at Pru Chaweng Moo 2, Tambon Bo Phut. Local villagers who witnessed the theft perused the thief and apprehended him. The police were called and the 34 year old suspect was arrested.
The stolen bag contained cash, credit cards and a mobile phone. Mr Porntap Sompan, 26, who works at a local hotel admitted the crime. He confessed to have run up gambling debts betting on the World Cup 2014 games.
Residents and visitors to Samui should be advised that many thieves are currently operating on the island. It is wise for women riding bikes or travelling pillion to tuck their bags under the seats, rather than wearing them over their shoulder, leaving them vulnerable to bag snatches. It is also advised, after several cases of bags being snatched while the owners are in their homes to lock your doors if you are away from the house in the garden or even just taking a shower.
