Army shut down happy ending massage shops in Bangkok

Yesterday evening the army dispatched teams of soldiers in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit soi’s 22, 24, 26 and 33 to shut down all non-traditional Thai massage shops. No specific reason was given as to why they were tasked with visiting and/or closing hundreds of happy ending massage parlors, but reports suggest that calls were made at around 3pm warning of the raids and giving advance notice for shop owners to clean up their acts. One report goes so far as to say the calls came from individuals who benefit from tea money of up to twenty thousand baht a month from such establishments. Reports also suggest that websites were taken down and boxes of condoms hidden.
The army arrived at around 6-30pm and asked business owners to close. According to one report speculation is rife as to how the army knew which shops to target and what will happen today.
