At least 60,000 new companies will be registered this year

The government’s economic stimulus measures have created approximately 2,500 new companies from December last year to January.
Department of Business Development (DBD) Deputy Director-General Rattana Theanvisitsakul has revealed that there were more than 5,700 new companies registered in January. This represents a 78% increase from the previous month, but a 4% decrease year-on-year. The combined value of all new company registrations is 28.1 billion baht.
The DBD Deputy Director-General expects there will be around 60,000 – 65,000 new companies registered by the end of 2016, due to government mega projects and a higher investment budget for this year.
The most popular category for new companies is construction, followed by real estate, consulting, construction materials and machinery.
