Australian attempts suicide in Phuket hotel room

An Australian man was taken to hospital on the 4th of march with a throat injury he sustained in what is believed to have been an attempted suicide. Police believe the suicide attempt was made due to stress.
At 6:30am Kathu police were called to the Patong Tower Hotel on Taweewong Rd in Patong to investigate a report of an Australian tourists who had slit his throat with a knife.
Kathu police arrived at the hotel with Kusolharm rescue workers and found the victim in the bathroom of his room. Blood covered the man and the bathroom floor. The knife that had been used was in the bathroom sink.
The victim was still conscious and rescue workers gave him first-aid before taking him to Patong hospital.
The victim, later named by hotel staff as Jason Kevin Klingberg, 42, from Australia, was said to be a very quiet man and mostly stayed alone in his room.
The member of staff who who called police said, “I walked passed the room and heard a weird noise so I opened the room to check and saw blood and then the tourist.”
Police are currently unaware as to why Mr Klingberg wanted to take his own life but assume that stress may have been a factor.
