General Asawin Kwanmuang was speaking to the media on Monday saying there was no damage to tourism.

Repairs would be made quickly and in the meantime tents for those affected were being erected.

Sunday evening’s fire – after the world famous weekend market had shut for the day – damaged shops over a 240 square wah area.

It appears that an electrical fault, coupled with the extreme heat being experienced in Bangkok, was to blame and meters are now being replaced.
