Best Regional Banknote of the Year award 2015 won by Thailand’s 1000 bt note

Thailand’s new 1000 baht note has been awarded the Best Regional Banknote of the Year 2015 award – a joint win with New Zealand’s latest polymer banknote series.
The winners of the High Security Printing Asia awards were announced on December 8th in Jakarta and an event organized by Reconnaissance International.
The award praises the design, technical sophistication of the notes and its security. Successful banknotes should combine visual artistry and high levels of security with a strong emphasis on the cultural heritage of the issuing country.
The winning note is part of a series launched to honor His Majesty the King. The 1000 baht note has modern anti-counterfeiting technology and allows easy authentication for those with visual impairment according to Woraporn Tangsaghasaksri an assistant governor of the Bank of Thailand.
