Big Joke latest: Embattled former top cop takes off for America

Embattled former immigration chief Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn has gone to America.
Sanook reported that government spokeswoman Patcharaporn Inthiang revealed that the former poster boy of the Royal Thai Police had put in a request for a holiday.

He is expected to be back at the end of this month.
Surachate – known throughout the Thai and English language press as Big Joke – was feeling the heat after his abrupt transfer from chief of immigration to a civil service role as special adviser in the PM’s office, said Sanook.
Naewna said in their headline reporting the same story that the LT-Gen was avoiding the “storm in his life”.
Sanook said that exactly what he will do in the PM’s office on his return remains to be seen.
