Body of foreigner found in sports bag dumped in Bangkok canal

Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of an unidentified foreign man was found inside a large sports bag or holdall that had been thrown into a canal in Bangkok, reports Thaivisa News.
The gruesome discovery was made on Sunday afternoon when a worker from a nearby factory saw what looked looked like part of a human head and shoulder protruding from the bag in Ong Ang canal at Phra Nakhon, close to the Samran Rat intersection.
Bangkok’s acting police chief Sanit Mahathaworn said that police believe the man to be an Indian national between 150-160 centimeters tall, who had been dead for approximately three days.
Pol Lt Gen Sanit added that following an initial forensic examination police believe the victim had been murdered after being hit with a hard object resulting in wounds all over his body, with blows to the head and neck proving to be fatal.
The man was found to be wearing only underwear although other items of clothing were found in the bag, along with some bags of confectionery.
Police say one line of inquiry is that the man was murdered due a conflict over a business dealing or property purchase.
