Body of Russian man found in pool at Koh Samui villa

The body of a Russian man was found floating in the pool of a villa on Koh Samui on Saturday morning.
At around 7am a caretaker found Oleg Chernov, 51, floating face down in the pool of a villa in the Bo Phut area of the island, Thai media reported.
The caretaker then alerted Mr Chernov’s son who pulled the body of his father out of the pool and tried to administer CPR.
Police and rescue workers were called but Mr Chernov was pronounced dead at the side of the pool.
The caretaker told police that the Russian family of four had been renting the villa for ten days and had been partying and using the pool late at night.
Police said they believed Mr Chernov had been dead for around 3 hours before his body was discovered and put the cause of death due to drowning.
Mr Chernov’s body has been sent for autopsy to establish official cause of death.
