British Thai actress agrees to a settlement with the family of the police officer she killed

British Thai actress Anna Hambawaris, AKA Anna Reese, has reached an agreement for financial settlement with the family of the Thai policeman she killed while driving her Mercedes Benz in Bangkok. In the early hours of the morning of June 26 the actress crashed into the police car in which Lt. Naphadol Wongbundit was sleeping, killing him instantly.
The figure involved in the financial settlement remains undisclosed, but it is known that in two previous sessions Anna refused to give in to the demands of the family. Naphadol’s wife Chanthana origionally asked Anna to pay 7.2 million, a figure based on her husband’s promising career and the 15 more years he would have provided income had he not died. She also stated that she needed to provide for their two children. Later the figure was reduced to 6.2 million, 1.2 million of which would have been covered by the actresse’s car insurance policy. However Anna refused to part with 5 million baht.
It now appears that a financial settlement has been made, although criminal proceedings are ongoing. Anna told reporters that she will be honoring the memory of the man she killed by becoming a nun for the second time after briefly ordaining herself in July.
