Bus crash in South kills two

A bus driver and a passenger died after an interprovincial bus from Bangkok to Yala and Betong crashed into the rear of a cement truck on Asia Highway 41 in Chulabhorn district if Nakhon Si Thammarat province before dawn today.
Twenty others were also injured in the tragic mishap which happened at 4.30am on Wednesday. They were all admitted to Ronphiboon and Chulabhorn hospitals for treatment by charity foundation rescuers.
The bus belonged to Piya Rungruang Co Ltd.
The bus driver identified as Phinai Chaisriya, 40, died at wheel, along with a male passenger upon hitting the rear of a 18-wheel truck loaded with cement bags.
Inquiry of witnesses revealed that the truck which was running on the right lane skidded with its head falling to the ditch in the middle of the highway.
However its tail was still on the highway blocking two traffic lanes.
The bus which was following in behind could not stop and hit at the rear of the tail and ploughed into the row of trees for a hundred metres before with its side down into the ditch.
The bus driver died, while the truck driver was seriously injured, police said.
