Cathay Pacific adds Koh Samui to its rout map

Cathay Pacific will add Koh Samui and Krabi to its route map, with the launch of a new codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways.
Under the deal, Cathay’s ‘CX’ code will be placed on Bangkok Airways’ daily services between Hong Kong and Koh Samui and Bangkok and Krabi. In return, Bangkok Airways will place its ‘PG’ code on Cathay’s services between Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Tickets for the new codeshare services have already opened for sale, with flights commencing on 4 November 2013.
“Thailand has long been a key destination in our Asian network. We currently operate more than 50 flights a week between Hong Kong and Bangkok and we are glad that our passengers will be offered a wider choice of Thai destinations with this new codeshare service,” said Cathay’s director of sales & marketing, Rupert Hogg.
Meanwhile Peter Weisner, Bangkok Airways’ senior vice president, said the new codeshare agreement would “offer a boost to Thailand tourism”.
With the addition of the new flights, Cathay and its sister carrier Dragonair now connect to five Thai destinations – Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Krabi and Koh Samui.
