Chiang Mai smog levels hit a new high causing many to seek medical help

Chaing Mai is reporting its highest levels of smog so far this year with tiny particles at 253 micrograms per cubic meter is some parts of the city and 247 in others. This level of dust in the air is double the face level of 120mg.
It has been reported that over two thousand residents of the city have had to seek medical treatment for illnesses related to the fog. Over five hundred of the patients who went to seek help at the Nakhonping Hospital in the district of Mae Rim were experiencing respiratory problems and allergic reactions.
According to Dr. Surasing Wisaruthrat, the Chiang Mai health office executive, the air pollution levels currently being experienced in the city are dangerous to people within the province and nearby areas and he has urged people, especially the very young, old and pregnant women to spend as little time outside as possible, he has also used the use of facemasks and asked those who are indoors to seal their windows and doors and use their air conditioning units to purify the air.
It has also been reported that visibility at the airport is down to 300 meters and 200 meters in the city.
It is understood that a seminar to tackle the problem of smog in the city would take place on March 17th
