Chinese dive tourist jumps into water off Krabi, fails to resurface, and later dies

Chinese national Minghua Jiang, 62, was on a dive tour near Koh Ya Wa Sum, said Maj Sophon Kongthong of the Krabi Police.
“He was on a tour with Scuba Addicts Co in Ao Nang, and boarded the Boonnawi dive boat with six other tourists,” he explained.
“The dive instructor told us that Mr Minghua put on his dive gear and jumped into the water, but he did not come back up.
“The foreign instructor spent 30 minutes in the water searching for him, and finally brought Mr Minghua back to the boat, but he was unconscious by that time.”
Doctors at Krabi Hospital attempted to revive Mr Minghua, but pronounced the tourist dead at 2pm, Maj Sophon said.
“We are now waiting for doctors to confirm the cause of death. In the meantime, we will continue our investigation and question the boat captain, the instructor and others about the incident,” he added.
