Chinese safe cracking “tourists” tell the cops they needed funds to continue the high life in Thailand

Police in Samut Prakarn have announced the arrest of four Chinese tourists who broke into an industrial tools company and cracked open a safe.
They were named as Huang Hua, Wu Yuan Bion, Wong ye and Wong Lee Chiang. They were arrested at a hotel in Rayong on warrants after police used CCTV to trace them from the crime scene.

Taken into evidence were two motorcycles, three gold bars of five baht weight and other items. Their haul from the job was valued at 900,000 baht.
The Chinese said through an interpreter that they arrived in Thailand at Don Muang airport with 100,000 baht each. They went on tours in Thailand and bought two second hand bikes – but when the money ran out they needed more so decided to turn to theft.
Police dismissed this notion as nonsense, reported Daily News, saying that the force is investigating if others were in the gang.
All have been charged with aggravated theft using a conveyance in the hours of darkness.
