Co-owner of club in Krabi shot dead in broken glass dispute

The Co-owner of the “@Thonglor” pub in Krabi has been shot dead on the premises in what is believed to be a dispute over a broken glass.
Police reports stat that Suriya Chansukon, 48 was shot in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday) by his acquaintance Sompop KongPhakdee, 31.
From eye witness reports it appears that Sompop broke a glass and then asked Suriya to pay for it when he refused he shot him in the head before running to his car and driving off, he later returned to the club to attempt to fool people into believing he had not been at the scene. However when Sompop was later arrested police found he was still in possession of the murder weapon. Sompop then confessed to the crime, telling police a stranger had bumped into his table and broken his glass. He said he asked Suriya to help him with the bill as he knew he was on favorable terms with the club’s owner.
Sompop was then charged with murder and carrying a weapon in a public place.
According to other news reports Suriya leaves behind his wife who is a former basketball player.
